ND hat progress

To Knit or To Buy

I'm usually not a fan of buying accessories in the store that look hand-knit when I can try to knit them myself.  But...sometimes it just makes more sense to buy it!!  Case in point: Drew and I were browsing in Children's Place at the mall when I saw the hat and mittens set below.  $14 for the set, and they're lined in fleece, too.  You can't buy the yarn and fleece for under $14!  They match his new coat too. :)

Here's an example of a hat I am recreating instead of buying...I wanted to knit a hat to wear to the upcoming ND/Maryland game.  I looked on the ND bookstore website and found a vintage style hat that I liked.  I drew up a little diagram of the colors and inches I would knit, and got going!  I'll post a photo when I'm finished--hopefully by the end of this weekend.

Babies in Hats

There is no better "thank you" than a photo of a baby wearing a hat that I knit for him/her!  I love to know that the hats are being worn and enjoyed.  Here are a few of my friends' babies in their "Itty Bitty Hats" (patterns by Susan B. Anderson!):

Maria and Camila, in her manzanita hat
Brady in his football hat
Portia in her Ribbon hat (Click HERE to see Portia in her cupcake hat!)
Tony, Freya (in her pumpkin hat), and Wendy
Click HERE to go to Kate's blog to see her son, Lincoln, in the blue striped candy cane hat I made.

Congrats to all my friends with new little ones!  They are so precious!!

Classic (Toddler) Mitten

I finished one mitten for Drew tonight.

The thumb looks a little wonky because I haven't sewn in any ends or removed the lifeline. I want to try it on Drew tomorrow and see how it fits before totally finishing it.
