Almost Finished with Pig!

Finished feet and legs tonight. Sewed them together but still need to attach to body. Took off snout; wasn't happy with color.

So fun to see this toy come together!

Piggy Progress

I've finished all the body parts except for the feet...see pic below. The arms aren't stuffed yet. I was delayed for a bit because I didn't feel like making and sewing up the muslin bag for the poly pellets for the body, arms, and legs. I did the main body one tonight and I like the weight it's going to give to the toy.

This Little Piggy

I just uploaded Blogpress for my iPhone and am trying it out for the first time...pretty easy so far...snapped the photo and it went right into my post. Not sure I'm a fan of typing very much on my phone though.
I am working on the Pig from itty bitty toys. Pretty cute! Love this soft pale pink.

Baby Girl Hats

It seems like all I've made lately in the hat department are baby boy hats or neutral hats.  So, I was excited to make one of my favorite girly hats for Becky's new adorable niece, Charlotte!  

Upside Down Daisy Hat

Since I was in the mood for girl knitting, I also made a cupcake hat.  I learned some new crochet techniques; it called for making a picot edging and a crocheted cherry.  I was frustrated at first trying to figure out how to crochet, but after I watched a few videos I figured it out and actually enjoyed it!  I wasn't wild about the way the hat turned out though.  I don't know that it really looks like a cupcake, but I will tuck it away with the other baby girl hats I've made in case we have a girl someday.

I Finished the Mama and Baby Monsters!

Jim and I found the buttons for the eyes at a local antique shop. It was nice to be able to choose individual buttons instead of buying sets of all matching buttons at a fabric store. Jim has a really good eye for this sort of thing. He helped me put together the button combination for the eyes and had the idea for sewing two buttons together to make the eyes look more like, well..eyes! ;) He also arranged the mouths on the monsters. What a team--he set up the faces and I sewed them on!

Duck and Bunny--Take 2

I decided to make a second duck/bunny for my friend's little girl.  I did a much better job the second time around!!  (I almost wanted to keep the second one for me, but I keep reminding myself that the first one has personality and character. ;))

I asked a question about how to attach the two heads together on the Itty Bitty forum on Ravelry, and both Susan and another knitter helped me figure it out!  On the first set, I just whipstitched the two cast on edges together.  On the second one, I attached the heads together, and then sewed up the cast on edges.  The second duck/bunny reverses much more smoothly than the first one.  The trick is to turn both animals inside out, touch them together where their heads would be, and sew up a few stitches through the inside.  Pretty cool!
