Striped Hat for Michael

I knit this new hat for Michael using two strands of yarn held together for a warmer, cozier feel.

It looks great!  Enjoy!

Finished Earflap Hat

The braided trim ended up being a little too short to do long ends that hang off the earflaps (like in TC's hat).  I could have added them on separately, but we decided it looked more juvenile that way.  So, it's done!

Mittens Update

I reworked the top of the mittens--much better now!  

Jim's Earflap Hat

Jim requested an earflap hat for this winter.  I love when he requests hats--it makes me happy that he likes what I make!  This is another free pattern by Susan B. Anderson (am I her biggest fan or what?).  Click HERE for the pattern.  I still have to add the red braided trim.  I have it ready, but need to pick up some thread.

Baby Mittens

I just finished a pair of thumbless mittens for Drew.  The pattern is free on the Spud & Chloe blog; click HERE.  The pattern called for them to be mix and match, but I like things to match. :)  I'm not sure if I'm wild about the color combo, though...what do you think?  Should I take out the red and make the tips green instead?

I'm thinking of making a striped hat to go with the set.

Candy Cane Hat

What a cute little elf! This hat is from Susan B. Anderson's "Itty Bitty Hats." It took about 4 nights to finish it--longer than most baby hats (I guess since it was longer in length!). I love the way it came out. Looking forward to taking some fun Christmas-y photos of Andrew in his candy cane hat.

P.S. If you click on the first photo, and then zoom in, I think you can see Drew's little tooth!

Christmas Knitting Begins...

It's that time of year again when I have about five or six projects I want to start for Christmas gifts...here's my queue so far (some of the other ideas I have I won't share in case I decide to make it for YOU!):

-Candy cane hat for Drew

-Earflap hat for Jim

-Beard hat for Jim (have you heard about these?? I hadn't, until Mom was chatting with a girl at Fibre Space, and she said she was making one for her husband. I did a search on Etsy and Ravelry, and sure enough, people are making these funny hats for their main men!! Check out the link HERE.)

Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef

We visited the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and saw this amazing exhibit!! Knitters and crocheters from around the world contributed to the exhibit (I wish I had known about it sooner!). Of course I wanted a picture in front of it with our knitted hats on. :)The photos are courtesy of Jim...I love all the details of the coral reef that he captured.

Honeybear

Our honey boy was a bear for Halloween this year!In keeping with the bear theme, I made him a bear hat. This pattern is called "Bunny Tail" and is from Susan B. Anderson's "Itty Bitty Hats."
I tried to make it a little larger so he can wear it for a few months...but it fits pretty well right now!

Pansy

I finished a hat--for me! This pattern is called "Pansy" and is from a pattern book by Louisa Harding. The yarn is also by Louisa Harding. All the patterns in the book are very whimsical and feminine.
The pattern called for it to be knit flat, instead of in the round. I am always a little annoyed when I find that out! I love knitting hats in the round--it just doesn't make sense to me to knit them flat and then sew the two sides together. Oh, well, I like the way it turned out despite my reservations.
I'm wearing it with the skinny cabled neckwarmer that I made a few months ago. Does anyone else look forward to colder winter just a little bit just so they can wear cute wintry accessories?

My lil' pumpkin

Remember the pumpkin hat I made for my nephew, Ryder, last fall? Well, I made the same hat for my lil' pumpkin this fall! I used the same yarn, Debbie Bliss Rialto DK. I love this yarn--it is stretchy and has a nice sheen. This is the first hat I've custom-made for Drew. Since I was able to measure his head before I made it, it came out perfectly!

I decided not to tack down the leaf to the hat this time. I think it gave the leaf a more realistic look.

Drew loves the jumperoo--and it gives Mommy a few minutes to knit!
It's nice to be able to have my little model try on the hat as I go...he's very cooperative!
