I'm usually not a fan of buying accessories in the store that look hand-knit when I can try to knit them myself. But...sometimes it just makes more sense to buy it!! Case in point: Drew and I were browsing in Children's Place at the mall when I saw the hat and mittens set below. $14 for the set, and they're lined in fleece, too. You can't buy the yarn and fleece for under $14! They match his new coat too. :)
Here's an example of a hat I am recreating instead of buying...I wanted to knit a hat to wear to the upcoming ND/Maryland game. I looked on the ND bookstore website and found a vintage style hat that I liked. I drew up a little diagram of the colors and inches I would knit, and got going! I'll post a photo when I'm finished--hopefully by the end of this weekend.

There're so many machine-knit hats here in China that are pretty cheap. But I'm no fan of them at all.
ReplyDeleteLike your little sketch!
I like your sketch too, and can't wait to see how that ND hat turns out! I might knit one for myself!
ReplyDeleteI think the red and black set is a bargain! Hope you got it!
ReplyDeleteYour ability to design is impressive, I like the way you think about and plan your projects. The ND hat is a winner!
