Newborn Sweater

I found myself feeling very antsy in the week leading up to our second baby's arrival.  I was too tired and big to do much of anything around the house or in town, but I also didn't have a great attention span for knitting!  Finally, in the weekend before our baby was due, I decided to cast on the "Puerperium Cardigan."  Both of my knitting friends, Erica and Wendy, had made this sweater recently.  I used a variegated yarn that I had in my stash that I had never really found a purpose for.  It ended up working out really well!  It is so soft (I'm not even sure what type of yarn it is!  Maybe a wool/cotton blend?) and has a really nice drape to it.

I finished the sweater the day before baby's due date, and then my mom picked up some buttons while we were in the hospital.  A few days later I sewed on the buttons, and voila!  My newborn sweater was ready for my newborn.  I was really happy with the fit.  The sleeves and body of the sweater are a perfect fit for my 8 lb 13 oz, 21 in baby.  It won't fit for long though.  He'll have to wear it often this month!

Oh how I love hand knits on a little one. :)
