Ribbons Hat

Is this cute, or what? ;) Glamour shots time...
This is another pattern from the Itty Bitty Hats book (like the upside down daisy hat). The hat itself is easy to knit. You make the eyelets (little holes) by doing yarn overs.

I had fun looking for ribbons at Vogue fabrics. It's just up the street from our place, so I rode my bike over there and spent awhile browsing through their selection. A lady working there suggested the cherries ribbon--love it! She also dissuaded me from a cute nautical ribbon--"I think that's a little summery, dear, for a winter hat." heehee--she was right. Can I help it that I live with a sailor and now whenever I see an anchor or a sailboat I think, "Ooh, I like that!"

Ribbon Scarf

I got sidetracked by a new project! I bought an organizing unit for my yarn yesterday at the Container Store. While going through my yarn, I remembered I'd been wanting to use this skein of yarn that Mom bought me at a craft fair, and I found a great pattern to try out on ravelry! That website is amazing. I did a search for the name of the yarn and then was able to see over a hundred projects that other people had done with the same yarn! This pattern is called "Drop Stitch Scarf" and really highlights this type of yarn because of the lace-like look.

Sisters

I made these hats during our vacation in Maine. I wasn't sure who I was making the first hat for when I started, but I soon decided to make a pair of hats for our friends who have a 2 year old girl and a baby girl due this month. How cute will sisters look in these hats?

All I want to make these days are baby hats! They're quick, manageable projects that are so satisfying--and adorable! I bought the two books below at Borders yesterday and can't wait to try out one of the patterns...

What's up, G?

I made another sweater for Judy's yorkie, Guapo. She requested a "G" on the back of the sweater, so here it is! I had never done embroidery before, so I researched a bit and decided to try the duplicate stitch. I found this great tutorial to help me. It's a little tricky at first, but once I got the hang of it, I loved doing this stitch! I'd like to try it on some of my hats now, too! The sweater pattern is the same one I used on the orange sweater in a previous post.

To Market to Market

I made this bag for Erica's birthday! Happy 28th b-day, my friend! I thought she could use it when she goes to the farmers' market, or even to the beach. It's super stretchy. I followed a pattern I found on Ravelry. The only change I made was to close the bottom like I would close a hat (in the round). The pattern called for binding off and then making a seam, but I like how this created a nice round base at the bottom to hold your things!

I hope you enjoy it, Erica! I had fun making it. Mom got me some similar yarn in Hawaii, so I think I will make myself one, too!

Lovely Lovey

Kids call little blanket bunnies (and their other animal counterparts) "loveys" now. Did we call them that when we were kids? I don't think we had them when we were kids! I had my "silky," Jill and Michael had "blankies"...I think "lovey" is a new term. Thoughts?

Anyways, I finished my first blanket bunny this weekend! I used the pattern from the Lionbrand website. It was a pretty easy, quick project (a favorite of Erica's!). It really is neat how the arms form and the head forms--like magic! I am debating on whether or not to embroider a face on it...I tried to do one eye, and it didn't come out too good. (You could still see the pink underneath.) If anyone has tips on how to stitch on top of an already knitted object, let me know!
